Blexfraptor
Today some hitmen intercepted prosecutor César Suárez and shot him inside his vehicle on an avenue in the north of Guayaquil. The Public Ministry agent was shot several times in the head, leaving at least a dozen bullet holes in the glass of his car. The body remained at the scene awaiting the arrival of the forensic experts for almost an hour. The attack occurs when the "internal armed conflict" decree has been in force in Ecuador since last week, which includes a state of exception, curfew and the deployment of the Armed Forces in the streets. Suárez was in charge of the armed assault against TC Televisión, which occurred last week, when a kamikaze commando of 13 gang members from the Los Tiguerones gang burst into the television facilities shooting. A case of terrorism, as it is one of the 22 gangs described as such in the government decree. The prosecutor worked in the National Specialized Investigation Unit against Transnational Organized Crime. The Public Ministry official also carried out one of the parallel cases to Operation Metastasis, which led by the State Attorney General involved the drug trafficker Leandro Norero, known as El Patrón, with politicians, judges and journalists. Suárez was in charge of the hospital corruption case that directly pointed to businessman Daniel Salcedo, detained days ago in Panama and to whom an extradition process will be applied. "My most sincere note of condolences to his family and colleagues. César, rest in peace. His legacy will accompany us in the fight," stressed Attorney General Diana Salazar, who assured that she was on the ground doing the first steps "so that "This crime does not go unpunished." Salazar, considered by Rafael Correa's Citizen Revolution as one of its main political enemies, made a call to the nation full of emotion, in which she firmly assured that organized crime groups and terrorists "will not stop our commitment with Ecuadorian society. We will continue with more strength and commitment. We must be clear that this atrocious event brings with it a message for the work we are doing through justice." The head of the Public Ministry urged the Law Enforcement Forces to guarantee the safety of Justice officials and the Judiciary Council to authorize the hearings to be held electronically.
