Wolf.17
Electric vans are well suited to last-mile delivery: the trips that take your Amazon packages from the distribution center to your doorstep so you can get that all-important Stanley tumbler the same day you impulsively bought it. Now Ram is joining the segment with its 2024 ProMaster EV, an electric version of its full-size commercial van that will be offered in a variety of specifications. Long road trips are not the ProMaster EV's focus, so its 110.0-kWh battery is only capable of traveling up to 162 miles on a charge in city driving. While this number may sound meager, it should be more than enough for a day of deliveries. The van will be capable of Level 3 DC fast-charging at up to 150 kW, while the Level 2 onboard charger is good for up to 11 kW. The ProMaster EV is motivated by a 268-hp electric motor on the front axle that sends 302 pound-feet of torque exclusively to the front wheels. Utilizing the same architecture as the gasoline-powered model, the battery is situated under the floor in the middle of the van. Ram claims the cargo volume is unchanged, with 524 cubic feet available and an interior cargo height of 86 inches. The ProMaster EV will come either as a delivery-focused model or in two cargo versions, measuring 12 feet and 13 feet, with all three variants sitting on a 159-inch wheelbase. The delivery model is also fitted with a super-high-roof setup, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield. There were no specifics about the equipment on the cargo versions. Ram says the ProMaster EV will eventually be offered in five configurations, with two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body styles. The payload capacity is rated at 3020 pounds for the cargo version and 2030 pounds for the delivery configuration. The ProMaster EV will help last-mile delivery operators with a lightweight but durable rear roll-up door made from anodized aluminum. The van will also come with Ram Telematics, recording data to provide insights on saving fuel, improving route efficiency, and encouraging safer driving. The navigation system will provide walking directions from the vehicle to the final destination using the Uconnect phone app, while the van will also feature Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a46410659/2024-ram-promaster-ev-details/
