ASUS ZenScreen Fold OLED

The ASUS ZenScreen Fold OLED is a foldable OLED screen that we can take anywhere.
The ASUS Zenbook DUO (2024) has two 14-inch OLED displays with 3K resolution. ASUS has launched a whole arsenal of products at the CES in Las Vegas that is taking place these days and, as it could not be otherwise, foldable devices have made an appearance. And the company has launched not one, but two products: an external monitor, codenamed MQ17QH, named ASUS ZenScreen Fold OLED, and a laptop, named ASUS Zenbook DUO (UX8406), which has two OLED screens connected by a hinge. At the moment, the Taiwanese company has not confirmed the price or availability of any of the products. Therefore, we will be waiting to update this text with prices and information regarding our country. That said, and the presentations made, let's get to know these two devices better.

ASUS ZenScreen Fold OLED, the first foldable OLED monitor The ASUS ZenScreen Fold OLED is an external monitor. When fully open, the device offers us a 17.3-inch diagonal screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,920, a more square format that is often valued and comes in handy for office tasks. It is an OLED panel, as it could not be otherwise and, according to ASUS, it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and has the VESA Display HDR True Black 500 certification. As a foldable device that it is, the monitor can be placed in different ways. For example, in landscape mode, it is like a regular monitor that can be quickly deployed in teleworking situations or while waiting for a flight. The monitor is 9.7 inches thick when fully open and weighs only 1.17 kilos, so, a priori, there should be no problems when carrying it in a backpack. ASUS has opted for a water drop-shaped hinge. According to the company itself, “designed with hundreds of pieces, this detailed mechanism is capable of bringing the two sides of the screen closer together, almost completely eliminating the gap that can make folding devices more bulky than desired.” Additionally, ASUS claims that “any wrinkles” are minimized and that “you will barely be able to tell there is a hinge behind the screen.” We will have to try it to clear up doubts.
