Representative Camila Musante, author of the “Stay Law” project, comments on the details of this initiative that aims to enable a work permit for a period of 14 days for workers who assist people at risk of suicide. “This is a project that has been proposed to save lives. It is an effective measure, not only necessary, to generate a care policy that allows workers to reconcile their work life with family space. In addition to that, it is an initiative that is effective in reducing the suicide rate,” she points out. Chile is the sixth country with the highest suicide rate in Latin America, according to WHO data, to which is added the explosive increase in self-consumption of antidepressants.
