FNX Magokiler Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 The company FSP showed us yesterday a roadmap of its products for 2024, where many of the expected ones appear, however, one of them has caught our attention, a lot. A supposed power supply. This would reach up to 2,500W, which, currently, we consider crazy, well above the largest known today. Will it really be necessary? How far are we going to go? Let's review all this. 2,500W power supply? Apparently, the FSP company plans to remodel its product line, among which it shows us various power supplies. However, our attention is focused on one of them, since it has a power of up to 2,500W. The question is, is it really necessary? The components, year after year, improve, in turn needing greater power, however, currently we are very far from those 2,500W, I would even say 1,500W. A device with that consumption would be truly crazy, to the point that it would force us to contract more power from our electricity company, as well as the impact it would have on the bill itself. However, for whatever reason, FSP will launch this product in 2024, with the name FSP CANNON PRO, measurements of 150 x 200 x 86 mm, an efficiency of 80 PLUS PLATINUM 230V EU, two PCIe Gen 5.0 connectors and an extended ATX form factor. The power supply will be able to support up to four NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards with a TGP of up to 450 W per unit, which would give 1,800W only on GPUs. And among other changes, which we will not only see in this model, but in all of its roadmap, are the new ATX 3.1 standard and the addition of PCIe CEM5 (12V-2×6) connectors, thus replacing the existing designs. ATX 3.0 12VHPWR. This will not be the only high power source that you have shown us. We have other models that also stand out, with up to 1,650W, which is also a bit exaggerated, although not as much as the CANNON PRO. The rest seem more normal now. In summary, the FSP company wants to anticipate possible future needs, and, directly, they show us a 2,500 W power supply, something that, personally, I do not think we will need for many years, however, if we want to build a computer Regardless of the budget and that it lasts 1 decade, it could be a good option thinking about the future. We know that, at least, we are not going to fall short. Now, what price will this source have? It is something that makes us curious, since, for a similar cost, there may be many who want to have this beast, but, if the price is much higher, according to its power, compared to the rest of the models... I think there will be few. Let them get hold of this new beast. And you, what do you think of the new FSP component? Will it come true? Will it be a bestseller, or will it be a failure? Would you buy it? Leave us a comment with your opinion. https://hardzone.es/noticias/perifericos/fsp-prepara-fuente-2-500w-sugiriendo-algo/
