There is a famous phrase that is heard everywhere, which is that everything in life is a matter of "renewing or dying." And in some way it is true, although there are cases in which it is very scary to see how a game like Prince of Persia has to start copying other successes, renouncing in some way the very spirit that saw its birth, in this case , almost 35 years ago.

The fact is that Prince of Persia is one of those mythical sagas, which premiered on PC in 1989 and set the standards for many games of the time: a very careful platform, with practically photorealistic character animations and a intricate map that we had to overcome being very careful not to fall into traps or die after being attacked by an opponent's sword.

The lost crown of Prince of Persia
It must be recognized that Prince of Persia already moved away from the original essence a few years ago when Ubisoft also put the famous Sands of Time trilogy on sale, adapting the saga to the fashions of the time: 3D adventures that grew like mushrooms because of such famous hits as the Tomb Raider saga. Now, that genre that rules in many developments has a name, to which this The Lost Crown has stuck like a limpet: the metroidvania.

And we come to Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, a new reboot of the saga but adapting its development to those releases in which we play within a huge map that has many inaccessible parts...

Until we get the object that allows us to advance through them. This is how clear it is after seeing the video published by the French in the last few hours, which is a good example of everything it will have when it hits stores on January 15, 2024.

As you can see, this title somehow recovers that original spirit of Prince of Persia, with that 2D platform map (some would say 2.5D) from which they have taken away all the care that we should have to move through it, measuring each step on the edge of cliffs. Now in The Lost Crown everything is more dynamic, faster, frenetic and electric, and it is clearly perceived in each frame published by Ubisoft.

A joy to see Prince of Persia like this
To the subscriber, who has played with practically all the Prince of Persia that have come out, on computers above all but also on consoles, it is a joy to see that unlike other sagas where the studios do not find the key to its evolutions, here They do have a clear path to follow and they do it in a masterful way. It already happened, not only with the first games of the late 80s and early 90s, but also with Prince of Persia 3D and the subsequent Sands of Time trilogy.

Now, The Lost Crown promises to once again shine the light on this wonderful franchise, originally owned by a certain Broderbound. What times!
