FNX Magokiler Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 While showing its new medium-sized pick-up in Algeria, FIAT sent a statement talking about the Titano, where it explains the abstract attributes of the product, but also shows for the first time an official full-length image of its new truck that it will market in Africa and Latin America, and which we have been hearing about since the beginning of 2023. With it, Stellantis will try to compete with its most important brand, in the populous segment of medium-sized one-ton pickups, where models such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara and Volkswagen Amarok reign, to name the best-selling ones in South America. What is the FIAT Titano? If you are not a fan of Autocosmos, here we give you a summary of the history behind the new truck with the FIAT shield, whose origins date back to Peugeot and Changan. At the beginning of 2020, the new Landtrek was officially unveiled, a joint development between Changan and Peugeot. In China it is marketed under the name Kaicene F70. For export it will use the logos of Changan (as in Chile) and Peugeot, with a differentiated configuration. The plan included launching it progressively in Latin America, with a second move to Mercosur, with regional production at the Nordex plant in Uruguay. The second stage of the launch was extended, and in the middle of that Stellantis was born, which merged PSA (Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, etc.) with FSA (FIAT, Chrysler, Jeep, RAM...) Time continued to advance, the inter-group jump and in 2023 we began to talk about the FIAT Titano, which has been taking a slow striptease, showing parts until now that the first full-length image appeared. What do we know about the FIAT Titano? We know a lot and a little at the same time. Initially everything that applies to Landtrek passes to Titano, even the aesthetics, which are almost the same except for identity elements, such as the grille without side frames and the huge FIAT in the middle. They are so similar that the feline LED fangs remain. Independent chassis and load capacity of one ton must be maintained, however, we already knew that the Landtrek was not exported with its original engines to our part of the planet, namely: a 2.0 gas station with 210 HP and a 1.9 TD with 150 horses. The good news is that from 2023, the Landtrek will be marketed with an authentic Peugeot turbodiesel, a 2.2 BlueHDI from the DW family (DW12) with 180 HP and between 370 and 400 Nm of torque, depending on whether you choose the 6MT box or the 6AT. The engine is manufactured in France and exported to Uruguay. Everything indicated that the FIAT pick-up could use this engine, although its Euro 6 requirement complicates its sale in other markets beyond Chile. And when would the new FIAT Titano arrive in South America? Like its lion twin, FIAT's new medium pick-up would have to be produced in Uruguay, at least in the first stage, and should be formally presented in 2024. https://noticias.autocosmos.cl/2023/12/13/fiat-titano-se-devela-la-nueva-pick-up-mediana-basada-en-la-landtrek
