[Politics] Santelices affirms that Minister Aguilera “has the table set” to resolve the Isapres crisis

The former Minister of Health Emilio Santelices sent a message to the current head of the portfolio, Ximena Aguilera, in the midst of the Isapres crisis, ensuring that she has the solution to the problem in her hands.

Let us remember that in this matter, the Government entered indications into the public sector readjustment project, which seeks to partially alleviate the Isapres crisis, especially after the ruling of the Supreme Court that annuls the increases in the GES premium. The measure will allow insurers to advance the increase in plans to April instead of June, in addition to including an extraordinary readjustment to cover the costs of children under two years of age.

In conversation with Al Pan Pan with Mirna Schindler, Santelices assured that “what we have proposed to the government is to move forward, understanding that the Isapres are welcomed and incorporated into social security, a pool of risk among users, ending with pre-existence, consequently ending the health declaration and installing free mobility among Isapres users.”

“All of this is available today and there will be the votes to approve it and it will be tremendous news for Chileans,” he added.

This particular scenario that Santelices proposes has not occurred, because the Government has not provided solutions.

 

 

“We must be clear, the Isapres are responsible for the genesis, yes or yes, and we should not hesitate to point this out. But the responsibility today to provide a solution to that obviously lies with the government,” he said.

“The effort that has been made in the Senate Health Commission, with specialists and people involved in public health, is to make available to the government the foundations and legal frameworks by which this can be done. The government and particularly the minister, so to speak, has the table set. She can, with just her gesture, incorporate indications, take a leap that will be historic for this country,” she assured.

Santelices added that “today the government has the last word and I think that within the government there are different approaches.”

“There is still an underlying subgroup that thinks this is the opportunity to end the system. On the other hand, there are others who actually understand that the system has to be profoundly renewed, it has to be profoundly transformed, just as we have thought from the committees of experts, but that destroying it in a brutal way can have consequences,” he concluded.
