Angel of Death
Rabat - Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo is pledging more measures in response to the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. On Wednesday, De Croo said that his country will bar Israeli extremists who commit violence in the occupied West Bank from entering the country. “Violence against civilians will have consequences. Extremist settlers in the West Bank will be banned from entering Belgium. We will work with the U.S. on sanctions targeting individuals involved in actions that undermine peace, security, and stability in the West Bank,” De Croo wrote on X, formerly Twitter. De Croo’s remarks come in line with Belgium's strong position against the Israeli aggression against civilians across the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. Since October 7, Israeli occupation forces have killed over 16,000 Palestinians, including children and women while many are still missing or under the rubble. Israel’s bloody war continues with troops targeting residential homes, shelters, and hospitals where both patients and people seeking refuge are located. The latest attack came today when an Israeli warplane bombed a mosque in Gaza, killing at least 12 civilians and injuring dozens. The occupation’s airstrikes have also targeted homes in the region, killing and injuring dozens. Belgium has been backing a complete ceasefire in the besieged strip. The European country has frequently reiterated its plan to recognize the state of Palestine while vowing to impose sanctions against the Israeli occupation. The Belgian position has triggered frustration from the Israeli side, with the country’s foreign ministry summoning Belgium’s ambassador in addition to Spain’s. In November, Israel’s foreign minister Eli Cohen described the Belgian and Spanish positions as “false claims.” “We condemn the false claims of the Prime ministers of Spain and Belgium who give support to terrorism… Israel is acting according to international law,” Cohen claimed.
