Four kittens that lived under cars on the streets of West Virginia in the United States were rescued by a group of rescuers. However, they had a hard time accepting help, as they showed shy behavior around people.
The babies were seven weeks old when they were rescued by employees of the Tails High shelter. The people who took them gave them a plate full of food to build confidence in the cats and later took them to a safe place.

The shelter administration explained that the animals urgently needed an adoptive mother to take care of them, as they needed to start their socialization process. The felids were weaned, scared and did not want to get close to anyone, but despite this they managed to adapt to a home with a dog.

Life after abandonment

Asa, a Tails High volunteer, explained in an interview for the Love Meow blog that she decided to open the doors of her house to the feline family, the babies began to build trust in people and relaxed as the days went by. The animals were cared for by a veterinarian and the mother was sterilized.

“Piogi (one of the puppies) was the only one who was friendly from the beginning; “He approached me immediately while the others hid from me,”.

The rescuer commented. Ravioli, another of the cats, approached the woman on the third day and then Pierogi joined the group.

The rescuer explained that in a matter of a week the four felines were already competing for her affection and they all wanted to receive caresses from her. The socialization process was difficult, because even though they lived with Asa and her dog every day, there were times when they forgot that they were taking care of them.

“They forgot who I was every time they saw me, so I had to sit with them for at least 10 minutes until I could pet them again,” Asa explained about how difficult it was to get the animals used to their new life. “They started meowing at me to get my attention and approached me looking for love,” she added.

Enjoy a new life

Two weeks after the litter was rescued, the cats have already adapted to life inside a house, now they live with Asa's dog. The canines decided to have a protective personality with the puppies and now they are never separated from them.

“They realized that other animals are friends. “They all love Kona (the dog who likes to raise cats) and come to him for attention, just like they do to me,” she explained. The animals began to show their personality and became great friends of the canines.
