The attack on the police with a grenade, the kidnappings of the last few hours and other criminal acts have once again demanded that the Government take security as a priority in the midst of the processing of the budget law and in the plebiscite campaign. From the Government they say that they hope not to politicize the security issue, to lower the discussion to a technical level and thus confront the opposition offensive. However, a group of Democratic Socialist deputies do not follow the Government's line and even their own party presidents took the floor from them.

In the midst of the opposition offensive over the security case, in which both Republicans and National Renewal pointed to the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, as the main person responsible and threatened to accuse her constitutionally, deputies of Democratic Socialism filed a Request for Resolution so that the Government may declare a State of Constitutional Exception of a national nature, focused on the most affected areas regarding the latest crimes of connotation.

Center-left parliamentarians flanked PPD Raúl Soto, who led the announcement. The former president of the Chamber assured that.

"although the government is making the maximum of its efforts with all the capabilities of the State, and we value it, everything that is being done is insufficient because the State of Chile, beyond the government of turn, was years behind, and today we are facing a very sophisticated organized crime, with a lot of firepower and a lot of economic power.”

Soto indicated that “the time has come to act, the time has come to put on our pants to decisively confront and wage a frontal battle against delinquency and organized crime” and assured that “in security there is no ideological division that is worth it, we must work together.” . It is not time for diagnoses, the diagnoses have already been made, it is time to act.”

The initiative doesn't just stop there. The deputies Jaime Araya (IND-PPD), Cristián Tapia (IND-PPD), Héctor Ulloa (IND-PPD), Carlos Bianchi (IND), Felipe Camaño (IND-DC), Eric Aedo (DC), Tomas Lagomarsino (PR ), Marcos Ilabaca (PS) and Soto also proposed a “rake operation” to bring to justice or expel irregular foreigners who are committing crimes, as well as the creation of a high-security prison for organized crime.
