“I have always made it clear that I have the ability to play on the wings, I simply don't like playing as a '9', although in my club I have to do it. Here, in the National Team, I can move around the entire field, which has helped my game,” he said at the time.

Once he managed to get out of that scoring drought, the Brazilian recognized the burden he was under for not scoring: “The truth is that I was overwhelmed because things weren't going my way, but now I'm back. I can't blame anyone, it was my fault, yes it was a new position and I was adapting. Now it's giving me more freedom, more towards the bands. It's a little difficult to play there as a nine, but if the coach thinks I can, I'll be delighted." And, despite the fact that he doesn't like playing in that position, he "believes in the coach" and recognizes that Ancelotti is "very important" to him, "he always helped me at the beginning of the season when things weren't going my way." Given the rumors of a possible departure of the Italian to Brazil, the forward acknowledged that "they always want to have the coach, whether here or in Brazil."
