[Hardware] Intel abandons Cryo Cooling technology, even if you didn't know it existed

We have been commenting for some time that Intel's financial situation is quite bad, more so than it may seem. It was evident when they gave their NUC division to the manufacturer ASUS. Now, we have learned that Intel has discontinued its Cryo Cooling technology, which stopped being operational on July 1, 2023 and the last processors supported by this solution have been the Raptor Lake.

The company has been in a fairly significant weight loss process for years. It all started when they were stuck for years in the 14nm node, something that caused them serious financial problems. They invested a lot of money in the 10nm node, what a cost to make it efficient for mass production.

An accumulation of problems that meant selling its 5G chip division to Apple. They have subsequently sold their SSD and memory divisions. More recently they have given away their Mini PC division, as we have mentioned previously. Meanwhile, there have been dismissals disguised as friendly departures.

Surely Cryo Cooling technology doesn't sound familiar to you at all. It is a special cooling system that not many know and have adopted.

 

 

Simply put, it is a cooling technology for processors that reduces the temperature to 0º C to improve the cooling of the processor.

This technology was presented with the Comet Lake processors (10th Generation) so it has existed for 4 generations of processors. The duration of this solution is the same as the life of a company socket, two years. This technology is no longer supported by the 14th Generation Raptor Lake Refresh.

As discovered by tweeter momomo_us, Intel's Cryo Cooling technology has stopped developing as of July 1. Despite this, they will continue to distribute functional, security and other updates until December 31 of this year. From then on, users with a Cryo Cooling solution will no longer be supported.

The "problem" with this Intel technology is that it is not based solely on hardware. It is developed as a small ecosystem based on hardware, firmware and software, so that they work together.
