Given this, Senator Ricardo Lagos Weber (PPD) expressed feeling sad at not understanding how people like his colleague, Senator Matías Walker (D), with whom at some point he walked “along the same bank of the river,” are now on sides. diametrically opposed.

In that sense, “this text clearly fails to unify,” declared the PPD legislator, although he stressed that he does not know what will happen in the plebiscite on December 17 and does not venture with a forecast, but, according to Lagos Weber, “ I think we have a text that failed to meet the objective, which was the second chance, that we are going to have 'one that unites us.'"

The reasons? “There is a sector that took the ball home,” just as in the previous process, argued the senator, for whom if the proposal is approved “we will be left with this Constitution that I do not share,” but if it is rejected, “it will be "Open the process for later." Or, perhaps, he warned, “it's not even what Chileans want.”

And we can't go back. This is debatable and I have to respect the vote of Chileans on December 17, but if the responsibility of proposing something was in one sector, that sector failed.”
