[News] La Serena International Film Festival begins with tribute to Alejandro Trejo

This Wednesday the ninth version of the La Serena International Film Festival (FECILS 23) begins, with more than 80 activities that will take place not only in this city, but also in various communes and towns in the Coquimbo region.

It will be the beginning of four days full of films, conversations with the public, mediation activities and other events related to the seventh art.

One of the highlights of the opening day will be the viewing and subsequent discussion of the film “Taxi para tres”, together with one of its protagonists, the national actor Alejandro Trejo, who will also be a jury and will receive the lifetime achievement award at the # FECILS23.

The activity will start at 4:00 p.m. with the screening of the film, at the 4 Esquinas Community and Cultural Center, (Av. Larraín Alcalde 3505, La Serena) After the screening, a forum will be held where attendees will be able to learn the secrets behind this acclaimed production.

Also, at the Coquimbo House of Arts, the applauded documentary by the Chilean director, Maite Alberdi, “Infinite Memory”, will be shown at 7:00 p.m., a work that invites reflection and appreciation of cinematographic art from a unique perspective, and that puts the focus on the cinema of female filmmakers.

The day will culminate with the long-awaited opening ceremony of FECILS 23, which will take place in the Aula Magna of the University of La Serena at 8:00 p.m.

 

 

The event will begin with words from the authorities and then with the screening of the film “History and Geography” by director Bernardo Quesney.

As part of the territorial extension of FECILS, a selection of Latin American short films will also be screened, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the Cultural Hall of the I. Municipality of Canela.

Likewise, at 8:00 p.m., the film “1976”, by the Chilean director, Manuela Martelli, will be shown in the Salamanca Municipal Auditorium Hall. This initiative seeks to bring cinema to different communities and bring the magic of the big screen to a diverse audience.

This festival is carried out as part of the project financed by the Audiovisual Development Fund Call 2023 of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage.
