[Auto] Mitsubishi will debut the L200 in Chile during May and will maintain its origin

At this year's Japan Mobility Show we were able to meet one of the most important premieres that we will have during 2024, which is the new generation of the Mitsubishi L200, for years, the best-selling motor vehicle in Chile. This truck has a new development, much more evolved, with a new platform (developed together with Nissan) that is 60% more rigid.

Not only that, a new 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine and new electric steering will also debut. There will be transmission options and two traction systems, Easy Select 4WD and Super Select 4WD-II with LSD differential and Active Yaw Control.

During the auto show, we accessed information indicating that this new L200 will also be manufactured in Brazil, which will make it more accessible to Mercosur markets.

L200 in Chile

Although we could not meet physically, we were able to talk with Hugo Castro, the new manager of Mitsubishi in Chile, whom we asked about some details of the new L200.

 

 

Including doubts about its origin, tentative dates of arrival in Chile and positioning:

"The L200 has already been released in Thailand and we are going to source from Thailand. It is not contemplated that we source from Brazil, in fact the previous L200 was already manufactured in Brazil to mainly feed the local market. Obviously, this new generation of the L200 is a product that comes with many improvements, very different from the current truck and obviously, this product will also have a very different price. How much more? We are still in that process. It is a product whose value will be higher, but "It will offer a much more complete and advanced level of value to the user. We are very confident that the truck will continue to be a success. We are counting on being able to receive the new L200 during May of next year."

In the meantime, the current L200 will continue to be sold although it has received improvements such as 7 airbags in some versions and the most current Euro 6 homologation.
