Especially, taking into account the launch last May of the new Toyota Tacoma, a pick-up marketed in North America and whose current generation will share multiple elements with the brand new Hilux, such as its exterior. What is known about the new Fortuner? Will it be like the Tacoma/Hilux but in an SUV version? Or will its exterior continue to differ from the pick-up, as is currently the case? Below, we review everything that is known about it. New Toyota Fortuner: Will it be like this? According to what was reported by American media, the new generation of the SUV will accompany the Hilux in the platform change, by implementing the TNGA-F of the Tacoma. As a result, the SUV will be able to have hybrid variants, including the 48v mild-hybrid system seen on the North American truck. Unlike the Tacoma, whose ecological version has a 2.4L Turbo gasoline engine, in the off-road the protagonist would be the 2.8L Turbodiesel of the current generation, which in Chile delivers 204 Hp and 500 Nm in the base versions, or 224 Hp and 550 Nm in the GR-S. As for the exterior of the new Fortuner, it is expected to continue in line with the SUV world, marking its presence as a result of its robustness, but also featuring elegant and luxury details. According to the render that you can see above, the appearance of both the front and the sides will differ from what was seen in the Tacoma, so it will maintain differences with what the future Hilux would be. On the other hand, it is also worth remembering the image leaked months ago, in which a very different exterior design can be seen, and which is possibly the one that the SUV finally adopts. As for the interior, the new SW4 will debut a screen for the multimedia system and digital instrument panel, in addition to a better distribution of the elements located around the driver. For its part, it will maintain the capacity for seven occupants, whose seats will have a more elegant design. The new generation of the SW4/Fortuner would see the light of day towards the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025, possibly first in Asia, to arrive in our region months later.
