The moment that many were looking forward to has arrived for one of the most po[CENSORED]r multiplayer franchises in the world, if not the most po[CENSORED]r, since it is the one that almost daily takes over the top of the releases with the most players on Steam and the peaks of greatest attendance on specific moments of each day. Of course, at the same time that there was enormous hype, some thought that so much change did not suit CS:GO.

You have to think that CS:GO is not only a multiplayer team game but one of the names with one of the most important communities in the world and that enjoys an eSports scene that, if not the first, is fighting for that position of honor with League of Legends. So, why not say it, there was also some fear that the maps and new resources during the game would modify the META of the franchise too much.

Everything changes to stay the same
That is the premise that Valve has followed in the CS:GO 2 update that you now have available for download. If you are a recurring player of the title, you will have seen how the client you have installed on your PC has updated itself and that there is no trace of the old Counter Strike. Those of Gabe Newell, in the style of what Blizzard did a year ago with Overwatch 2, do not want a double community to coexist with the nostalgic old people refusing to embrace the new things: if you want to play a game, you must do it with the update no matter what. .

What's more, the CS:GO page itself has disappeared from Steam and whatever search you do around Counter Strike, the only result you will find is the one for the second part. So if you are not a regular player and you enter the store these days because of the commotion that is being created, you will see that you have no other alternative than to start playing with the updated version.

 

 

That it is a new client and that it is virtually a second part (as Valve has considered it) does not mean that you have to add it again to your library, since if you downloaded the original version from August 2012 at any time, you will follow it saving between titles that are part of your library.

And will CS:GO 2 be free for us?
Valve is clear that it no longer has one of those games that must be sold to make it profitable. With 11 years behind him, he has shown that he can generate a lot of money through the purchases of skins for weapons and other objects, in addition to being nourished by an electronic sports panorama that is also a plus for his coffers. So, as in the case of CS:GO, you won't have to spend a euro to play it.

In this way, Valve makes the transition from the first CS:GO to the second a matter of updating the client and little else. The rest, the new maps and the new smokes, are very different and much better – even at the level of the gameplay itself – although deep down, in their essence, they do not change anything that we already knew about Counter Strike. More of the same but bigger and better.
