FNX Magokiler
Last week, the plenary session of the Constitutional Council established the first lines of what is intended to be the second draft of the new Constitution to be submitted to a plebiscite. Given the predominance of the Republican Party in the composition of the Council, there were not a few who thought that Chile Vamos would play a more predominant role in the search for consensus to arrive at a project that was the result of agreements, just as the Expert Commission did. But beyond specific cases of some constituents of Evopoli and RN, Chile Vamos has so far ended up joining the Republican majorities, thus alluding - according to various sources - the historical responsibility of building bridges for a common home. Days after the votes of the plenary session of the Constitutional Council, the possibility of achieving broad understandings between Republicans, Chile Vamos and the ruling party began to collapse, and the transversal hopes that the 11 representatives of Evópoli, RN and the UDI emerged as Articulators began to collapse as well. On the night of September 6, a negotiating table was held between the different forces that make up the entity that will draft a new Magna Carta proposal to reach agreements. Late in the early hours of the 7th, the participants of the meeting emerged with a revelation: the last attempt - until now - to achieve broad political agreements was at a standstill. Since then, the ruling party has not had formal instances of dialogue with the Republican Party and Chile Vamos reaffirmed its intermediate position between both sides; it has not been easy for it to satisfy the expectations of building bridges between the most distant parties. This, despite the fact that pro-government and opposition parliamentarians maintain the hope that before October 7 they will be able to foster an understanding, mainly by betting on the political experience of the advisors Gloria Hutt (Evópoli), Germán Becker (RN), Lorena Gallardo Ind -RN) and some other leaders. UDI senator Sergio Gahona is one of the optimists in the historical role of CHV. “Several of us at CHV want consensus and it is necessary to do everything possible so that the failure of the previous constitutional process is not repeated. Chile Vamos has a historic role, and it is very necessary for our bloc to articulate and generate bridges of consensus from the Republicans to the FA,” Gahona tells El Mostrador. The legislator believes that the three leaders of his coalition, Javier Macaya, Rodrigo Galilea and Gloria Hutt, “are in line to unite wills,” but evaluates that in the Constitutional Council and that “consensus is still far away, but I remain firmly hope that it will be achieved.” https://www.elmostrador.cl/noticias/pais/2023/09/25/chile-vamos-se-diluye-en-el-laberinto-constitucional-y-marcha-al-ritmo-de-republicanos/
