But the brand now surprises us with a hybrid version of the model, which will be available from 2024. The explanation for this launch is given by the brand's own CEO, Olivier Francois: "Our strategic vision remains fully electric, and the fact that the 500e is the best-selling electric city car in Europe, fuels our determination to pursue and make make electricity truly accessible to everyone. However, we must also remain relevant in countries like Italy, our domestic market, where electricity has not yet taken off. Therefore, for a select few countries, along with the new 600 electric we will offer a high-performance hybrid. The new FIAT 600 Hybrid The 600 will be offered in a hybrid version called "P2", with 100 horsepower, which will be available in two trim levels: La Prima and Hybrid, differentiated by finishes and equipment. The powertrain of the new FIAT 600 Hybrid is a mild hybrid. The 3-cylinder 1.2-liter Miller cycle internal combustion engine, which can offer up to 100 HP of power, is complemented by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a new 6-speed dual-clutch electric transmission, which includes the 21 kW (28 Hp) electric motor. The electrical power of this motor is applied to starting functions and to the need for thrust in, for example, overtaking. The brand indicates that "it improves elasticity at low RPM, providing the driver with a silent start and quick response, with transparent and fast transitions." The system allows energy to be recovered and thus optimizes fuel consumption and saves up to 15% of CO2 emissions compared to a pure combustion engine with automatic transmission. FIAT indicates that the 600 hybrid offers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds thanks to instantaneous electric torque delivery. It is worth saying that the MHEV system allows just one kilometer of electric driving below 30 km/h and, also with smooth handling. The battery capacity also allows e-creeping functions, which is used to make a series of short forward movements without stepping on the accelerator (in a block) and e-parking, to park in 100% electric mode. This new hybrid variant does not modify the dimensions or the design of the original FIAT 600, with 4.17 meters long, 5 doors, capacity for 5 people and a trunk with 385 liters of capacity.
