Boric highlighted the Army's disposition and pointed out that the search for missing detainees is a moral and historical duty. After the Military Parade, Boric will travel to New York to participate in the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, where an important speech and a visit to Washington D.C. are expected. with the possibility of honoring Orlando Letelier. The Chilean ambassador to the UN, Paula Narváez, will accompany him on her international agenda. “I greatly value the words of General (Javier) Iturriaga.” President Gabriel Boric, after an “impeccable” 2023 Military Parade, referred to the statements of the Commander in Chief of the Army about the national plan to search for missing detainees promoted by the Government within the framework of the 50 years of the Coup d'état . In the run-up to the military event, from the O'Higgins Park ellipse in Santiago, the Army boss stated that the military institution has already provided the required information in the past, although he clarified that they are willing to collaborate in pursuit of national reconciliation . "Today the Army does not have information that is not available in justice and, of course, we are going to cooperate in everything that can allow this country to be brotherly, fraternal and so that we can have a reconciliation as soon as possible," said the Commander in Chief consulted about the Search Plan on National Television. President Boric highlighted that General Iturriaga pointed out that “the Army is currently made up mostly of people who did not participate in the events that sadly divided our country and led to terrible violations of Human Rights and, however, the willingness to collaborate is valuable". The President also highlighted the statements of Archbishop (Celestino) Aós yesterday in the Te Deum, who called for providing information about the missing detainees. “We as a State put ourselves at the service of the victims and we are going to make every effort, because as long as we are still missing 1,100 Chileans, we cannot stop searching, and that is a moral and historical duty that we, and all institutions, independently of the political differences that may exist, they put themselves behind that and I highly value that the assessment of the Search Plan is politically transversal,” added the Head of State. The leader of the Executive stated that "today the Armed Forces and Carabineros are a source of pride for our country." Likewise, and after demonstrations were registered both for and against the Government, Gabriel Boric indicated that, in his opinion, "we have also had a spectacle, you saw, the park full, demonstrations of all kinds, which are typical of a democracy, and the beautiful mountain range with kites in the background.” “The truth is a moving scene,” said President Boric. And he concluded: “I wish all Chileans that they had an excellent National Holiday and that they enjoy this last holiday. (I am) proud to be able to serve Chile and its entire history. “You feel the weight of history in these moments.” https://www.elmostrador.cl/noticias/2023/09/19/es-muy-valiosa-presidente-boric-valora-disposicion-del-ejercito-a-colaborar-con-plan-de-busqueda/ Edited September 20, 2023 by [Ty]M@g0k1l3r T/C.
