FNX Magokiler
Almost five years ago, the Jeep Gladiator was launched again, a historic pick-up from the American brand that returned to the ring after almost three decades of absence, and whose current generation has been sold in Chile since the beginning of 2021. It turns out that the Gladiator is a model that is more than half a century old, and has the peculiarity that it was manufactured in several places around the world. And one of those units is the one that gives life to this story. Jeep Gladiator Honcho Sportside 1981: The restomod Jeep's Heritage division decided to recover a Gladiator unit from the early 80s: a 1981 Jeep J-10 Honcho Sportside. First things first: in the early 70s, in the US they stopped calling the model "Gladiator." ”, becoming the “J” Series. Hence, the origin of J-10. As for the Honcho, it was a kit that Jeep offered to personalize the pick-up, and that added a special exterior decoration and a roll bar, but also certain interior additions, such as Levi's upholstery, a steering wheel covered in leather and a modern sound system. It was only available in the Sportside versions of the model. The restomod carried out with the eighties variant of the Gladiator included several works. As for the mechanics, its chassis was sandblasted, galvanized and powder coated, so that it does not suffer from rust. The suspension was also worked on, raising the front by 150 mm and the rear by 100 mm. Regarding the powertrain, Jeep Heritage did not put a current engine in this Gladiator (as is usually done in restomods), but rather it is powered by a 6.5L AMC V8 of the time. Of course: he replaced the original carburetor with a multipoint fuel injection system, in addition to rebuilding the transmission and applying a stainless steel exhaust. The exterior of this Gladiator features the Honcho decoration, with “Firecracker” red in the background and yellow and orange stripes, and it received both a new grill and bumpers (which respect the designs of the originals). On the other hand, it has 35'' tires. Regarding the interior, Jeep Heritage maintained its original layout and elements, but performed a complete reupholstery, with a black and gray color combination. However, it also includes modern details, such as an audio system with Bluetooth connection. This Jeep Gladiator is offered at a value of $145,000. If you had the money, would you buy it? https://noticias.autocosmos.cl/2023/09/16/una-jeep-gladiator-de-los-anos-80-vuelve-a-deslumbrar Edited September 20, 2023 by [Ty]M@g0k1l3r T/C.
