Parque Zoológico Caricuao is a zoo in Caracas, Venezuela located in the Parroquia Caricuao southwest of the capital. The park was created by Decree No. 1,682, dated March 7, 1974; however, it was from July 31, 1977, that it is open to the enjoyment of the public.1

The Caricuao Zoo, as it is also known, occupies an area of 630 hectares, 594 dedicated to the protection of fauna and flora in addition to conserving the hydrographic basin of the place. The other 36 hectares are those that are developed23 this area is made up of seven specific environments.

History
Its history begins in 1967 when the government of Raúl Leoni decided to transfer the land of the Santa Cruz Coffee Farm to the then Federal District government in order to build the largest zoo in the capital, whose name would be Parque Zoológico Metropolitano but in 1974 This is now administered by the National Institute of Parks, changing its name to Parque Zoológico Caricuao, opening its doors on July 31, 1977. On the 30th anniversary of the park, complaints have been made about the poor condition of the facilities.4

Environments
The Caricuao Zoological Park is divided into seven different environments, in which the different species of animals are distributed in environments that are intended to imitate their natural habitats.

Monkey Forest: In this habitat we can find different species of monkeys, with the particularity that the majority are South American and all of them are outdoors.
