Development
The game was released on March 29, 2020 alongside NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... on the occasion of the franchise's 10th anniversary. Only a teaser was shared that did not show what the game looked like.

Later, on April 18 of the same year, the first images of the game were shown, although without showing combat.

After sharing several images of the game on May 7, nothing more was known about the game until July 13, where they showed a new trailer with the first combat images of the game and the reveal of an open beta for the Japanese between the 29th July and August 5. The official website was also updated, providing more information about the game's story, some characters, and the game system.

gameplay
At the moment the following information is known:

It will be a 3D scrolling RPG.
There are multiple main characters.
The ghost, Mama, accompanies all the main characters.
The girl in white, which is shown in the trailers and illustrations, is not Kainé, but a separate character.
The combats are carried out in waves of enemies.
In these, up to three characters are controlled (although it is possible that this maximum is four characters).
Each character can use two abilities.
There are elemental weaknesses.
Synopsis
On a cold stone floor, the girl wakes up.
It was a vast space with large buildings lined up.

Guided by a strange creature called "Mama", the girl began to walk on the stone pavement.
To recover what she has lost and atone for her sins.

Inside the "cage", where
she doesn't even know who made it.

Characters
Girl in White – One of the playable characters in the game. She is cheerful and kind, but she hides several mysteries. Voiced by Rie Nagae.
Mama: a mysterious creature that calls itself in this way. She seems to know something about the "cage", and she takes it upon herself to take care of the girl in white. Voiced by Yumi Hara.
Black monster - mysterious existences that roam the "cage". They seem to have some purpose. Voiced by Motoyuki Kawahara.
Rion (Exiled Child): Voiced by Junko Minagawa.
Gayle (Prosthetic Hunter): Voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara.
Dimos (Mechanical Soldier): Voiced by Takuya Satō.
Akeha (Mechanical Assassin): Voiced by Eri Kitamura.
