Trajectory
Ioka began his professional career in 1986. With a record of eight fights without defeat, he contested the unprecedented World Boxing Council title at minimum weight against Mai Thomburifarm, obtaining the victory by unanimous decision on October 18, 1987. In his third defense against Napa Kiatwanchai he lost the championship belt by technical knockout.

In 1991 he got the opportunity to challenge for the World Boxing Association title against South Korean Myung-Woo Yuh, prevailing with a split decision win. However, Yuh himself wrested the title from him in his third defense on November 18, 1992. Ioka tried to win flyweight and super flyweight titles in the same organization without success. After his retirement, he has worked as a promoter and boxing manager.1

His nephew, Kazuto Ioka, has won six amateur boxing titles, and is currently the WBC lightweight champion.
