League of Legends: Wild Rift (abbreviated LoL: WR or simply Wild Rift) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games for Android, iOS operating systems, and soon available on consoles. The game is a modified version of the PC game, League of Legends.

As in the PC game League of Legends, players control a character ("champion") with unique abilities and fight against a team of players or bots produced by the game, with the goal of destroying the opposing team's "Nexus". In every game of League of Legends: Wild Rift, champions start out relatively weak and build up in strength by accumulating items and experience over the course of the game. Champions are influenced by a variety of genres, including high fantasy, steampunk, and Lovecraftian horror.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game that is played in a three-dimensional isometric perspective. Players compete in matches that have an average duration of 15 to 20 minutes. Members of each team work together to destroy the Nexus of the enemy team's base, playing different lanes as they are; jungle, adc, supp, top and mid.

History
After acquiring Riot Games, Tencent wanted to turn League of Legends into a mobile game, but the proposal was denied on the grounds that the game could not be replicated in a smartphone format. Tencent created its own mobile game, King of Glory (with its international adaptation known as Arena of Valor) in 2015.5

League of Legends: Wild Rift was announced on October 15, 2019.6

Launch
League of Legends: Wild Rift was scheduled to be released in 2020.7 with a limited alpha release in Brazil and the Philippines in June 2020.

On September 16, 2020, a beta version of Wild Rift was released in Asia on the Google Play and App Store, with more regions to be added at an unconfirmed date.8 On October 8, 2020, the closed beta returned, adding South Korea and Japan.9

On December 10, 2020, the open beta was released earlier than planned to include the Commonwealth of Independent States, Europe, the Middle East, and Turkey. Wild rift would eventually be released in Latin America on March 28, 2021. .
