FNX Magokiler
They were found unharmed 60 kilometers from their home. Carabineros officials rescued and returned to their rightful owner 21 pregnant cows that had been stolen from Fundo Las Mercedes, located on the road that connects the communes of Futrono and La Unión, in the Province of Ranco, Region of Los Ríos. The animals belong to the Montbéliarde breed (with reddish spots) and are valued at 21 million pesos: one million per specimen. When the police institution was alerted to the robbery, the investigation fell to "the Anti-theft Patrol, created by the Valdivia Prefecture to combat this crime in the Region," Captain Carlos Bustos explained to Las Últimas Noticias. In less than 36 hours, the 21 bovines were found unharmed 60 kilometers from their home, on a property in the Río Bueno commune. There, the Patrol arrested a subject with the initials R.L.C.M., who was later released, but was kept in custody while waiting to be summoned to testify. Captain Bustos told LUN that La Unión, Los Lagos, Panguipulli and Río Bueno "are especially cattle-raising areas, with large tracts of land", where animal theft is constant. "There are different modus operandi: people who are engaged in the clandestine sale of meat for consumption, dismember the animal on the spot and take the main parts. There are others who take it whole and alive, as was the case, for the reproduction or for other productive purposes; perhaps laundering them to reduce them with false documentation at livestock fairs," explained the uniformed man. https://www.cooperativa.cl/noticias/pais/medioambiente/animales/patrulla-antiabigeato-rescato-a-21-vacas-prenadas-que-habian-sido/2023-05-23/130741.html
