A dog was fatally stabbed in New York City's Central Park on Saturday night after a "verbal dispute" between its owner and an unknown assailant, police said. The dog was stabbed around 8:30 p.m. near East 106th Street and East Drive. Its owner, a 43-year-old woman, told police "an unknown individual stabbed her dog after a verbal dispute," according to New York police, who added that the stabber fled. The New York Daily News reported that the attacker was walking three unleashed dogs, who allegedly bit both the victim — a German pit bull mix — and a Chihuahua the owner was also walking. The stabbed dog was euthanized at a local animal clinic because of its injuries, police said. No one has been arrested, and the investigation continues, police said Sunday.
