He was one of those responsible for po[CENSORED]rizing the Dubstep Genre, thus winning 3 Grammy Awards in 2011. In addition to his duo projects (Jack Ü, with Diplo and Dog Blood, together with Boys Noize) he is the founder of the OWSLA Recorder and has participated in several works in Video Games and in the production and co-production of other big names in music (Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, The Weeknd, XXXTentacion, Lil Pump, Ty Dolla $ign, Poo Bear, Rick Ross, etc). Skrillex recently opened a music production school in South Africa in partnership with the NGO Bridges For Music. Raised in Northeast Los Angeles and Northern California, Skrillex was a member of post-hardcore band From First to Last as lead singer in 2004, and has recorded two studio albums with the group; "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count", 2004, and "Heroine" in 2006, before leaving in 2007 to pursue a solo career. He began his first tour as a solo artist in late 2007. He later became a DJ and adopted his stage name, Skrillex He toured on the Alternative Press Tour supporting bands such as All Time Low and The Rocket Summer, and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press's annual 100 Bands You Need to Know. In 2009, he released the EP "Gypsyhook", the first solo. In 2010, he released the EP "My Name Is Skrillex" for free on MySpace, under his new name. Then he released two more EPs, in October 2010 he released "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" and in June 2011 "More Monsters and Sprites", both managed to appear on several music charts. On November 30, 2011, he was nominated for five categories at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, including "Best New Artist", and won three, Best Dance/Electronic Album", "Best Dance Recording" and "Best Remix Recording, Non-Classical". . After his Grammy nominations, Skrillex expanded his success and by releasing the fifth EP titled "Bangarang", he increased the sales of his EPs and entered several charts worldwide. Sonny Moore was born in the Highland Park neighborhood of northern Los Angeles, but at the age of 2 he moved to the Forest Hill neighborhood of San Francisco shortly after his parents died in a car accident. Between the ages of 9 and 10, Moore attended a local high school located in the Mojave Desert, but ended up moving back to Northern California. At the age of 12, his family moved back to his hometown, where an old friend of Japanese origin named Yohana Izuta lived, in northeast Los Angeles, where he enrolled in a private school specializing in the arts, and was educated at home later at the age of 14 due to bullying. In 2004, he found out he was adopted, and dropped out of the program when he was 16. Growing up in Los Angeles, Moore attended punk shows in Mexican-American neighborhoods in East and South L.A., and later attended raves in the Silver Lake and Echo Park neighborhoods.
