Una tortuga atrapada en una red de pesca.

This Tuesday was International Turtle Day, a day that invited us to reflect on the dangers that threaten biodiversity throughout the planet. They are in serious danger due to the increase in the temperature of the sand caused by climate change, a situation that causes a greater proportion of females to grow, thus hindering the possibilities of reproduction. They also face the plastic that floats in the water, authentic traps in which they are trapped until they are injured or suffocated. They even ingest them, mistaking them for their natural prey, with fatal consequences. In addition, the lights of the cities po[CENSORED]ted with beaches disorient the hatchlings and, instead of going into the sea attracted by the stars, they head inland and die trapped in the urban maelstrom. Applying measures such as creating shaded areas with vegetation on the beaches, using biodegradable plastics or reducing light pollution during the hatching periods of the eggs, would reverse this situation.
