Launched in the Colombian market in 2018, and after receiving a major update in 2020, the Niro has always been characterized as an efficient and practical SUV, but, frankly, it was already accusing the passage of time, so it was more than necessary for the arrival of the next generation, which was introduced to the world at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show.

The arrival in the country of this SUV in hybrid format is the first of eight new or renewed models that the South Korean manufacturer will present in the national territory this year, including the EV9. The Niro was one of the first ecological models developed by the South Korean manufacturer. It was born in 2016 as a conventional hybrid model, before adding plug-in hybrid (2018) and pure electric (2019) variants. The second generation appeared last year and the triple proposal in hybrid configuration (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 100% electric (BEV) was maintained. In the case of the Colombian market, we initially received the hybrid proposal in two versions: Vibrant and Zenith.

The second generation Niro uses the same architectural base as the previous model, so it retains its compact format and improves its dimensions; Although it maintains the SUV silhouette, it now appropriates lines that distance it from the normal range of the brand. Here the auction of the rear stands out, the two-tone concept to give prominence to the rear paral and a much more solid front, something similar to that of the Kia Sportage, but with a very particular light signature.

In any case, its bodywork was conceived in style under the "Opposites United" design philosophy, which debuted in the aforementioned Sportage, and which has a great aerodynamic approach, which is very effective for an ecological car; in this case, an outstanding 0.29 Cd is achieved. The first impression of the Niro's cabin takes us back to what we know of the Sportage, which obviously scales up from what this model originally offered. Soft upper plastics combine with harder ones and in this the perception of quality is very favorable, as well as the level of assembly.

According to the brand, one of the most notable aspects is that the cabin is deeply inspired by nature and incorporates a good amount of recycled and biosynthetic materials, extracted from eucalyptus leaves, for example.
