The last time Riot Games changed Viktor to adjust his power, there were no Mythic Items

League of Legends is a game that never stops changing. Even when there are no major transformations, Riot Games is constantly tweaking. You have to balance the power of champions, items and even the systems themselves. This means that nothing we know of remains static for a long time. It is an idea integrated into the very conception of a game that aspires to have an infinite learning curve. However, among so many transformations, there is a character who has not received adjustments for almost three years. It's been 70 patches since Viktor was last given an unforced change.

 

A unique case in League of Legends
Viktor was troublesome for Riot Games during the early years of League of Legends. The champion even received two reworks that, without being large, did significantly modify his abilities. However, he has ended up becoming the most balanced character in the game. Considering the last 69 patches that have been introduced to the MOBA, he has only received adjustments to his stats or abilities on two occasions. In both cases, moreover, the adjustments were not caused by his performance in the games. These were exceptional adjustments that affected all the characters in the game, which is why we talked about unforced changes before.

• Patch 12.10: It was the big durability update. Viktor's base resistances have been increased and his shield has been reduced. All champions underwent this process and Riot Games did not make any special adjustments to this character.
• Patch 10.23: Mythic items have arrived. In an attempt to adapt Viktor to these changes, we changed his old passive so that he could interact with the new system. Removed his exclusive item and introduced a new passive. As a result, I need a small balance adjustment.

If we don't get into these League of Legends structural transformations, the last time the character received a balance change was in Update 10.12. This came to the video game on June 10, 2020. We are about to celebrate three years without changes to the character. A total of 70 patches without seeing his power modified. The record is virtually unheard of. We have only known one comparable case. It was Jayce's, which passed without changes from February 20, 2020 to April 13, 2022. A little over two years that already seemed like a record to us, but the figure has now come to nothing.

The situation would be unworthy if we were talking about an extraordinarily unpo[CENSORED]r champion or who was in an imbalanced situation. However, Viktor's numbers are close to perfect. He enjoys good po[CENSORED]rity, being picked in 4.8% of ranked matches played on all official Riot Games servers over the last 30 days. He has won 51.2% of the matches without excelling too much at any of the skill levels. In addition, he is barely 'banned' on 2.8% of the occasions. It is at a point that the developers of League of Legends would sign for all the characters in the game.

Using the same criteria, there are currently two cases similar to Viktor's. However, they are not that exaggerated. Morgana is a very stable champion throughout League of Legends history and the last time she received changes was in Patch 11.18 (Sept 2021). Illaoi, for her part, has a slightly less flashy track record and last received adjustments in 12.4 (Feb 2022). When it comes to other elements, the ones that have remained intact the longest are Flash and Wipe. The first Summoner Spell received its last adjustments in 1.0.0.152 (Dec. 2012) and the 'Cleanse' even earlier: in 1.0.0.129 which arrived in November 2011. According to the records we have been able to verify, it is the element of the game that has been the longest without undergoing any modification.
