[Auto] Porsche exhibits the decoration of the cars that will compete this year in Le Mans

The three Porsche 963 of the Porsche Penske Motorsport team that will compete this year in the 24 Hours of Le Mans will have a special livery.

On the occasion of Porsche's 75th anniversary, car number 75, from the Hypercar category, will join the lineup of official vehicles to contest the classic endurance test on its 100th anniversary.

The three LMDh hybrid prototypes for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will sport exclusive liveries this year. There are 15 stripes in seven different colors, which start from the front and flow towards the back, widening, representing the central element of the decoration. To differentiate the three team cars, the rear wing presents different shades: black (#5), white (#6) and red (#75).

"Racing and, in particular, endurance events, are a central element of the brand's DNA. The 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans therefore has special significance for Porsche," says Detlev von Platen, a member of the Board of Management of Porsche AG.

The emblematic and colorful heritage
The colorful livery chosen is not random, as each color represents some of the most iconic Porsche cars in this race.

Some well-known decorations such as the so-called Pink Pig' or 'Hippie' have made history in motorsports and are still po[CENSORED]r today.

On the outside, the designers used orange as a tribute to the legendary Porsche 917 Gulf design from the 1970s, while the pink stripe is a nod to the celebrated 1971 Porsche 917/20 'Pink Pig'. reissued in 2018 to decorate the Porsche 911 RSR that finished first in the GTE-Pro category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year.

The prototypes will also sport the green and light blue colors of the 1970 917 LH 'Hippie', as well as the iconic Martini design of the Porsche 936, which won the 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans outright victory.

The dark blue recalls the Rothmans paint of the 1982 and 1983 Porsche 956, and alongside it, a bright red recalls the 917 KH Salzburg, which was the car that led Porsche to its first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le mans in 1970.
