Petroecuador EP informed that from next September the Shushufindi asset, province of Sucumbíos, will contribute 12 MW (megawatts) more power to the 53 MW currently demanded in that field.

For this, a General Electric model TM 2500 turbine was installed in the Shushufindi field and at the moment, technicians from the state oil company define the last details related to the operation of this turbine, with the aim of starting the test program at the end of May and thus operate in optimal conditions with residual gas.

The general manager of Petroecuador, Ramón Correa, explained that the entry of the 12 MW will allow reducing the import of energy from the National Interconnected System to the Petroleum Electric System, which is beneficial for the country, especially in times of drought.
The state company recalled that from December 2022 to date the company has already reduced the import of energy from the National Interconnected System, receiving a power in the range of 43 MW to 46 MW, which was previously in the order of 50 MW, which represents 14% of the total power required for exploration and production.

According to figures from the state oil company, during this period and in 27 days the energy transfer was less than 43 MW.
