Following an order from the Family Court, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the PDI in Puerto Varas.

Los Lagos Region, arrested a 63-year-old man, due to the fact that he owed alimony close to $73 million.

The defendant's arrest took place this Monday and, later, he was transferred to the Puerto Montt Gendarmerie to serve the sentence.

The defendant has a record for repeated fraud in 2001 and fraud in 2002.

During 2022, the subject had been detained by the civil police as a result of the same event, due to the fact that he owed more than $60 million for alimony.

 

 

Commissioner Sergio Díaz, of the Puerto Varas Criminal Investigation Brigade, explained that "

because he maintained a debt of approximately $73 million for alimony, the officials managed to locate this person in the vicinity of an address that registered in the city of Puerto Varas, being arrested and transferred to this police station in the first instance".

In this sense, he added that "later, he was made available to the Gendarmerie in Puerto Montt."

Finally, he recalled that "last year, officials from this brigade had already made an arrest of this person for the same act, where he made himself available to justice."
