In 2021, the Paggio Group discontinued its manufacture of the Aprilia Shiver 900 motorcycles, but the fierce spirit of this naked will resurface in a new Chinese assembly of the Cyclone brand, belonging to the colossal Zongshen firm, which claims to produce a million pieces year.

This is its latest model called Cyclone RA9, which was developed based on the technology of the Italian Aprilia Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 engines, which are out of the production catalog.

THE CYCLONE RA9 WILL ARRIVE IN EUROPE AS GILERA
Just a couple of years ago, a prototype of the Cyclone RA9 from the salon was shown at the Chongquing Impernational Motor Expo, where the chassis and the engine were fully Aprilia, but with certain modifications to increase the displacement, as well as new covers. .

The market expected the official launch of the product from the end of 2022, but the prototype is still under perfection, although images with some models circulating on the streets of the Asian country circulate on the internet.

It is rumored that Zongshen will position this piece in the European market baptized as Gilera, thanks to an agreement with Grupo Paggio, owner of the Italian brand, with the aim of the name helping to promote the motorcycle.

One of the doubts is whether this model can reach Europe, under the Euro5 regulations, in terms of pollution issues, which are believed to have caused the discontinuation of the Aprilia 900.

NEWS ON THE 'CHINESE APRILIA'
Unlike the Aprilia, the RA9 brought the cylinder from 896cc to 987cc. The engine offers a power of 112 CV at 9,500 rpm, with torque values of 98 Nm at 7,500 rpm.

THE RA9 features a single-sided swingarm with a hideous cylinder. At the front it has a double disc brake from the manufacturer. This model combines a firm and martial body. A wide 240 rear wheel and sporty seating position give it a modern muscle bike look.
