WASHINGTON — US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Monday that Russia must withdraw from Ukraine, lashed out at the Russian “killing of children” and distanced himself from some of his fellow Party members. Republican who oppose more US aid to Ukraine to prevent Russian invasion.
Visiting Israel, marking his first foreign trip as House speaker, McCarthy strongly expressed his support for Ukraine and rejected suggestions that he would not support sending military and financial aid to Kiev. “Vote to send aid to Ukraine. I support sending aid to Ukraine," McCarthy said, responding to a question from a Russian reporter.

"I don't support what your country has done to Ukraine, and I don't support killing the children either," McCarthy told the Russian journalist, adding: "They must withdraw."

“We will continue to support it, because the rest of the world sees it for what it is,” he said.

McCarthy arrived in Jerusalem leading a bipartisan delegation of US lawmakers on his first trip abroad as the new Speaker of the US House of Representatives and the first to address the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) in 25 years.

Domestic politics were present on his trip abroad, and the Republican said he has not received a response from President Biden on the negotiations around the US debt limit, as the deadlines to act and avoid big problems approach. economic.

"I hope the president changes his mind and negotiates with us," McCarthy added.
