HeWhoRemains™ Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 The whaling boats, transported to Canada aboard large galleons, were essential pieces of whaling. The Gozoa master pastry chefs will need more than 2,000 kilos of chocolate to build the replica of a 16th-century boat, which will be launched on June 1. The Albaola Itsas Kultur Faktoria shipyard-museum-school will be the place where the confectioners of Gozoa will 'build' the chocolate replica of a whaling boat from the 16th century: they will cover the frame built by the members of Albaola with chocolate, using a special chocolate; "A chocolate with more plasticity, which allows us to shape it and line this mould," explains Iñigo Sarobe, Bera's pastry chef. The history of whalers and chocolate dates back to the 18th century. "The Gipuzkoan Company of Caracas used the port of Pasaia as a gateway for the whalers that brought cocoa from America," recalls Xabier Alberdi, historian and director of the Euskal Itsas Museoa in Donostia. The launching of this colossal and sweet project has been marked on the calendar for June 1st. Whether it will float or not is currently unknown. "They told us we're crazy, but we'll try," says Lorena Gómez, president of Gozoa. After the big day, the chocolate boat will return to Albaola, where it will remain on display as one more piece of the museum. https://www.eitb.eus/es/radio/radio-euskadi/programas/distrito-euskadi/detalle/9176366/albaola-y-gozoa-comienzan-elaboracion-del-ballenero-de-chocolate/
