Draeno Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Barranquilla has wanted to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix and work continues to make that dream come true. At first, the information was surprising and even denied, but as the days and months went by, that rumor gained strength. So much so that in November of last year, Stefano Domenicali, president of Formula 1, visited the city and with the mayor Jaime Pumarejo they toured several specific places in Barranquilla. The Barranquilla Mayor's Office confirmed that this project would be called the 'Caribbean Grand Prix' and, apparently, it is going from strength to strength. As the local president said at the time, "the process is going very well. Progress has been made in all the previous steps, before a final decision is made. They have already come to the city, they have found it comfortable." Well then. In the last hours, Barranquilla appeared on a list of cities that aspire to host an F1 race. The capital of the Atlantic is next to London, Kyalami, South Africa; Hanoi, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Mexico City. https://www.eltiempo.com/deportes/automovilismo/formula-1-tiene-a-barranquilla-como-opcion-para-sede-de-gran-premio-761901
