[Auto] Maserati Grecale Folgore: all the details of the powerful electric

Electricity has fully reached Maserati. The Italian luxury firm is in full product offensive, launching electrified versions of most of its current models. They surprised with the GranTurismo Folgore, the top-of-the-range variant of the coupé in electric format. And that denomination will reach more copies, the last one has been presented at the Shanghai Motor Show. This is the Maserati Grecale Folgore, a model that had already been announced a long time ago and whose details are now being revealed.

It is the most powerful version of the Maserati Grecale thanks to an electric propulsion system made up of two 205 kW motors, located one on each axle to achieve all-wheel drive. Together it offers a power of 557 CV and 820 Nm of torque, slightly above the 530 CV achieved by the Grecale Trofeo with its 3.0-liter V6 biturbo. It stands out for its performance, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 16.1 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h. And that weighs 2,480 kg…

This model has 400V technology and is equipped with a 105 kW lithium-ion battery. This allows it to offer an electric autonomy of about 500 kilometers, in addition to having outstanding charging times. It accepts up to 150 kW in direct current (to get from 20 to 80% in 29 minutes) and up to 22 kW in alternating current. With Max Range mode, autonomy can be increased by limiting power and top speed to 130 km/h. Other driving modes are GT, Sport and Offroad.

On an aesthetic level, the truth is that the Maserati Grecale Folgore also introduces some differences. There is an exclusive color called Rame Folgore, also wheels from 19 to 21 inches (some aerodynamic), in addition to the new grill suitable for the needs of the electric. Inside, it uses materials such as Econyl, a recycled nylon that covers the seats and some surfaces.

On the other hand, the electric technology is similar to what we see in the other versions of the model. The digital instrumentation is 12.3 inches, while the main touch screen is the same size. There are many functions, connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Some of the Grecale Folgore's own specifications are battery pre-conditioning, an air conditioner that maintains the interior temperature or a travel planner to optimize charging.
