Draeno Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 A woman suffered a gunshot wound this Friday inside a judicial complex in the south of New Delhi, India. She was attacked by a lawyer with whom she is allegedly in a fraud dispute. The shooting began after a man who appeared to be a lawyer opened fire with a weapon that he managed to get into the complex, bypassing security measures at the site. He shot the woman four times, according to reports from the capital's Police to the Indian newspaper The Hindu. A video posted on Twitter shows the exact moment in which the man, a few meters away, activates the weapon against the woman. It can be seen how the woman tries to run away and get away, but the man continues to chase her and shoot her. In the midst of the amazement at what happened, several people are observed around. Many run for cover, others just walk away. The woman was transferred by several agents to the AIIMS hospital, located near the scene of the events, where she remains in critical condition, according to sources from the medical center cited by the media. Several videos after the shooting show the woman leaving the judicial complex with heartbreaking screams, while several of the people who accompany her squeeze the left part of her abdomen, where she allegedly received the wound. According to Delhi NDTV television, the woman was going to the court to testify in a case related to a financial dispute and was shot inside a judicial complex, before entering the building. This incident occurs months after two shooters entered another court in the northwest of the capital on September 24 and opened fire on a well-known gangster who had come to testify that day, until both were killed by the Police. The current situation of women in India According to the NGO Ritimo, throughout history Indian women have not always suffered as much from male domination as they do today, as traditions from Hinduism have been consolidated, in which although some texts value femininity and motherhood, they prioritizes the almost total subordination of women to men. Shabana Azmi, journalist and former po[CENSORED]r actress of India declared in 1988 that the "glorification of the Indian woman can constitute an eminently dangerous trap that closes on her by idolizing her, depriving her of any possibility to defend herself, fight or enforce her rights." ”. Young girls are brought up with the idea that they have to serve and satisfy "the man." For example, in the laws of Manu, the founding legal text of the Hindu dharma tradition, one can read "during childhood, a woman owes submission to her father, during youth to her husband, and when her husband has died to her children." ; the woman must never be independent the woman is not made to be free”. This is one of the main pillars of the Hindu traditions currently persistent in Indian society, which can partly explain the place that women occupy today. https://www.elespectador.com/mundo/mas-paises/abogado-disparo-en-contra-de-una-mujer-durante-audiencia-en-juzgado-de-la-india/
