Noticias ALEJANDRO Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 A group of experts will decide in the coming days whether an elephant at the Karachi Zoo in Pakistan should be euthanized after it collapsed last week and could not get up again. The animal was given treatment, but a few days later it collapsed and has been lying on its side ever since. Multiple animal rights advocates in Pakistan and abroad have posted about the pachyderm's situation on social media, prompting public pressure for them to close the Karachi zoo. Even lying down, the elephant continues to feed and is regularly sprayed with water to cool it down. The fate of the animal is in the hands of a special committee, which awaits the arrival of Amir Khalil, a veterinarian from the Four Paws Non-Governmental Organization, who was in charge of treating her at the beginning of April. The animal health expert told the AFP news agency that he "will make one last attempt" to treat the animal. URL Quote
