The singer has always had a great love for music and at the age of 18 she participates in the TVE program Salto a la fama. In 1968 she recorded her first album after her time at the Benidorm Festival, entitled "Maya", with influences from Spanish-American music, and especially from Atahualpa Yupanqui. In 1975 she released the album "My friends" with Hispavox and in 1979, with Zafiro, she released the single "Alma de gaviota", included in her LP "Rosa María Lobo". Rosa María Lobo first won the Rumbo a la Gloria contest in Oviedo, later she won second prize at the 1968 Benidorm Festival with the song "La tarde", the first was for Julio Iglesias, and his "La vida sigue igual".
