[Auto] The Peugeot e-208 could be the next electric to be produced in Spain

It is key for the national industry to adapt the facilities to be able to produce electric vehicles. In the coming years they will be the true protagonists of the market while combustion cars are disappearing. Spain, as the second largest producer at the European level, has been receiving some electric models in different plants. Now there is talk that the next one could be the Peugeot e-208, which is the French zero-emission urban car that has been on the market for some time.

This example, which received an update to improve its capabilities, is currently produced at the Trnava (Slovakia) plant. However, it would be considering bringing it to the Figueruelas factory, in Zaragoza, which already makes other small models such as the Opel Corsa. The decision has not been made firmly and there is a lot of pressure from France to take the largest number of electric vehicles from Stellantis. Peugeot and Citroën have a long tradition in France and concentrate much of their production there, but in this case Spain seems to be ahead.

Our country is among the most competitive to invest in the production of electric vehicles. The strengths of the national industry would be the favorable tax conditions and relatively low costs, both for personnel and energy. All European countries are trying to improve in this aspect so as not to be left behind at an industrial level, since the advent of electric cars has forced them to make big changes. And the truth is that the Peugeot 208 is a fairly key model.

Curiously, the small French urban has become the best-selling model on our continent. It is true that the market penetration of the electric version is not yet too remarkable, but in the coming years it could change. That is why France is still behind him and for Spain it would be an important goal to bring him to Figueruelas. In any case, Stellantis has promised the neighboring country the production of 12 electric models, most of them larger. In his list there are some like the Peugeot e-308 and e-408, plus others that are yet to come.
