#Wittels-
An origami motorcycle? It seems like a joke, but nothing surprises us anymore in the world of two wheels. If two years ago we saw a possible sketch of Stilride, now the bike is a reality that goes into production. It is an electric motorcycle developed by the Swedish firm. An idea that came to the fore in 2020 but since then we have not heard anything again, until now. The electric motorcycle inspired by Japanese origami comes true, with price and final design included. It will reach 100 km/h and will need four hours of charging Stilride is a name that some remember well because of the peculiarity that a motorcycle that was based on Japanese origami appeared. Yes, that Japanese origami, the art of creating small and intricate shapes with a sheet of paper... Well, you can also make a motorcycle out of it. At first, that invention was called Light.Fold. Now it has been officially presented under the name of Stilride SUS1, although it is very difficult to classify it, despite being an electric breaker with all the molds. It differs in some details from the bike that was first seen. Dreams have a very particular conception of what an electric motorcycle is, including the techniques to manufacture it. For this they have used a technique called “industrial origami steel folding”. In other words… A light, ecological and sustainable motorcycle. In this 'origami' process, the motorcycle is manufactured ecologically, without tools. There are those who consider it a work of art on an industrial level. The electric machine is built on a curved stainless steel monocoque structure. In Japanese origami, the swan is one of the most represented figures. In this case, the motorcycle has something to do with it, because its shape resembles a swan. They have shaped it in a similar way to what is done with origami with paper. The unveiled motorcycle has a final weight of 130 kg with the battery included. It is powered by an 8 kW electric motor that is installed on the rear wheel and has a maximum torque of 280 Nm, allowing the motorcycle to reach a top speed of 100 km/h. For the battery they have used a 5.1 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a range of about 120 km declared by the manufacturer, and needs about four hours to charge. The rest is pretty simple: upside-down forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear, and an adjustable saddle. And expensive, because we are talking about a motorcycle that has been announced at a price of 15,000 euros. The first units will start arriving in 2024 after the bikes are individually and manually built to order in a company workshop in Stockholm.
