Capcom has recently published a compilation of Battle Network, a Mega Man subsaga that includes these 10 turn-based strategy and role-playing games. This series premiered in the year 2000 and received its last installment five years later (six, in the case of the European market and therefore the Spanish one). All games are available now on PS4, PC, and Switch as part of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 and Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 2.

Why was this message included in Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection? In a ResetEra thread, several users point out that it is possibly the representation that several of these games make of NetFrica, a region clearly inspired by Africa that is defined as a place where people live in "straw and mud huts" and they worship a water purifier believing that he is a god. It is not the only representation suspected of having originated the presence of this poster: it also focuses on a black character who raps and mentions traditionally racist slogans, as well as the fact that the protagonist is robbed by another black man as soon as he arrives at Netopia, a region inspired by the United States. While the removal or modification of NetFrica could have resulted in a substantial alteration of the original works, the community does not understand why these other smaller and less important representations in the games have not been changed.
