Tarnetar, La India.

Several daredevil pilots risk at least one of their limbs and ultimately their own lives, performing in front of a crowd gathered around "a wall of death" in the Indian town of Tarnetar.

Saurabh Sirohiya, author of this photograph, says that: "Maut ka Kuan, which translates as 'the pit' or 'wall of death' is a po[CENSORED]r gravity-defying spectacle that can be seen at some local fairs and festivals in India, and in which the public offers money for the pilots to catch it.

Riders start at the bottom of the drum, usually counterclockwise, and ascend an initial ramped section until they gain enough speed to drive horizontally to the ground. While trying to get the biggest wads of cash, the pilots perform various crazy stunts like driving without hands. Despite the dangerous nature of their job, there is no shortage of people willing to put their necks on the line.
