HeWhoRemains™ Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Navarrese men spend a little more time on the Internet than Navarrese women; 2.8 hours compared to 2.5 according to a survey by the Association of Consumers of Navarra Irache. Two out of 10 people and almost 4 out of 10 young people admit to spending more hours on the Internet since the pandemic. The citizens of Navarre spend between two and three hours a day browsing the Internet, according to a survey commissioned by the Association of Consumers of Navarra Irache, although it is the youth that increases this average, since young people under thirty spend on average five hours a day sailing. According to the survey, age is one of the key variables in the responses on Internet consumption habits. Compared to the five hours on average for youth, browsing hours decrease as age increases, since the majority of citizens (75%) spend less than an hour and those over 65 spend an average of 1.2 hours daily. Men spend a little more time on the Internet than women -2.8 hours compared to 2.5-. There are more women who do not go online every day -15% compared to 4% among men- and more men who spend between 2 and 3 hours a day -38% compared to 28% of women-. No significant differences are observed with respect to area and habitat, although the average increases slightly with the size of the habitat -three hours in the capital compared to 2.3 hours in municipalities with less than five thousand inhabitants-. 21% of those interviewed state that they have spent more hours on the Internet since the pandemic. 68% indicate that their hours on the Internet have been maintained, and 11% say they spend fewer hours. This phenomenon seems to have affected young people more when it comes to changes in Internet use habits, since to a greater extent than the rest (39%) they declare that they now spend more hours on the Internet. Irache warns that abusive use of the Internet can have health consequences. In fact, among the people who spend more hours on the Internet since the pandemic, 32% indicate that they rest less, 10% explain that these hours affect their relationship with family members. These alterations affect young people more: 60% of those who spend more hours on the Internet as a result of the pandemic rest less.
