[Auto] Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+: 612 CV for the top of the range

With the recent launch of the Mercedes GLS, the spiciest version of the range has accompanied it. The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is the most powerful and capable example of the luxury SUV in existence, and it has improved in many ways. It does not change its mechanics (although it increases its power), it focuses rather on an expansion of its equipment and new options. It promises many sensations added to a clearly sportier aesthetic.

The starting point of this version is the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which has light electrification to be more efficient. It benefits from a 48 volt electrical system and an Integrated Starter Alternator (ISG) including Boost function. It serves to support the combustion engine and enhance its 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque. In fact, it can add 22 hp for short periods of time. This example benefits from the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission that has nine relations.

The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and its top speed is limited to 280 km/h. That, in part, is thanks to having the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and its variable torque distribution. It has an electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle and other benefits that improve its behavior. You can't outrun the AMG Ride Control+ suspension with adaptive dampers or the AMG Active Ride Control system to reduce roll when cornering and increase ride comfort.

On an aesthetic level, the copy signed by AMG can be distinguished by the exclusive colors, Manufaktur Alpine Gray or Sodalite Blue Metallic, in addition to the standard 21-inch wheels, which can be optionally 22 or 23 inches. They hide red brake calipers and there will also be lighting on the doors with the AMG logo. The thing does not stop there, because the interior also benefits from the AMG seats or the four instruments upholstered in nappa leather. There are new combinations of colors and moldings to be chosen by the user.

The positive part of this Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is that it has substantially improved standard equipment. Its endowment includes details such as the panoramic roof, the heated and ventilated front seats, the Burmester sound system, 360º camera, the AMG steering wheel with specific buttons or the AMG Performance exhaust system. Others such as the Multibeam LED headlights, the AMG Drive package or the MBUX augmented reality function can optionally be added to the list.
