The messaging app has a new feature to keep temporary messages so they are never deleted from a chat.

WhatsApp has a large number of users in Spain and around the world. To maintain them, the messaging application usually launches new features to make the tool as complete as possible. A few years ago, WhatsApp added temporary messages by which what is sent is deleted after a period of time chosen by the user himself and ranging from 24 hours to three months. But not all messages have to disappear, at least that's what the messaging application itself thinks, which has launched a function to keep those you don't want to miss.

A feature that is currently only available in the iOS 23.7.0.72 version of the WhatsApp beta, as reported by the WaBetaInfo application-specialized medium. A function that has been created so that some of the temporary messages can survive automatic deletion, although the user must follow a few small steps to do so.

 

Prevent them from disappearing
When a temporary message is sent in a chat, whether individual or group, it disappears according to the period of time that the user specified for it. For example, if 24 hours is selected, each message will be deleted one day after it was sent. But what if it is an important message?

One of the ways to keep them is to turn off temporary messages, send the message and turn the function back on so that they are deleted after a while. However, to avoid having to touch the application settings at all times, WhatsApp has a new function that makes this task much easier.

The new 'keep messages temporary' option is easy to use. To do this, when sending a message that self-destructs in a chat, the user can now prevent it from disappearing by simply clicking on it and selecting the 'hold' action.

At that time, that message will be marked with a tag icon, as the screenshot shows, and will not be deleted. Even so, in the event that you want said message to disappear again, just repeat the same process and, in this case, select the 'do not keep' option.

In this way, the message will end up being deleted and no one will be able to read it again. Since WhatsApp users are in control of their temporary messages, the same medium specifies that in the event that it has not been previously saved, a message cannot be prevented from disappearing.

A function that is expected to reach all users in the coming weeks and that may seem unnecessary, but that can be useful in different situations, especially considering that more and more users have activated the temporary messages function in their conversations.
